{"id":4915,"date":"2010-11-22T07:00:17","date_gmt":"2010-11-22T07:00:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pingpongarts.org\/?p=4915\/"},"modified":"2017-08-29T01:53:32","modified_gmt":"2017-08-29T01:53:32","slug":"dancing-to-connect-in-beijing-and-liuzhou","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pingpongarts.org\/cn\/dancing-to-connect-in-beijing-and-liuzhou\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Dancing to Connect&#8221; in Beijing and Liuzhou"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>&#8220;An international cultural diplomacy project that touches the hearts and minds of youth through dance&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>November 22-27, 2010: Battery Dance&#8217;s Carmen Smith and Tadej Brdnik together with teachers from BeijingDance\/LDTX work with 40 students from a Beijing migrant school, thanks to support from the Luce Foundation. <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/batterydancecompany.tumblr.com\/\">Photos Here!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>December 1-6, 2010: Battery Dance&#8217;s Carmen Smith and teachers from Guangdong Modern Dance Company work with students at a minority school in Liuzhou, Guangxi Province, thanks to support from the US Consulate in Guangzhou and the US Embassy in Beijing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dancing to Connect<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Student Created, Student Performed. Kids feel they are taken seriously.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 An award-winning initiative created by Battery Dance Company that engages international youth in creativity and team-building through modern dance.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 DtC workshops started in Germany in 2006 and have since been held successfully in cities throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and North America.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Local schools host Battery Dance Company\u2019s dance teaching artists, in collaboration with local teaching artists, over a period of 6 days. Each team of teachers works with a group of 20 students, and school administrators allow for the clearing of students\u2019 academic schedule for the duration of the workshop.
