The Danish Arts Council Research Programme awarded Ping Pong Productions a research grant to attend the ICE HOT Nordic Dance Platform in Stockholm, Sweden from December 1-4, 2010.
The purpose of the research trip is to expand Ping Pong Productions’ network in the Nordic countries and to identify potential future partners for collaborations and exchanges between China and Denmark. Says Director Alison M. Friedman, “We have worked with the Danish Dance Theater during previous tours in China, and I look forward to this opportunity to meet with other arts organizations to do a bit of ‘mapping’ of the cultural landscapes in the region.”
The Danish Cultural Institute based in Beijing, China also provided support for the trip.
ICE HOT is a platform for contemporary Nordic dance presented during four days at different venues across Stockholm. The platform offers a unique opportunity to catch up with what is going on in Finland, Denmark, Norway, Iceland and Sweden. The platform consists of live performances, discussions, seminars and meetings with artists, directors, producers, organizers and cultural operators. Four of the leading Nordic dance institutions co-organized the platform: Dansens Hus Stockholm, Dance Info Finland, Dansens Hus Norway, Dansescenen Copenhagen.
