Wang Chong

Wang Chong is the artistic director of Beijing-based performance group Théâtre du Rêve Expérimental. He studied theatre in the United States at UC Irvine and University of Hawaii. His works have toured China, Hong Kong, Japan, U.S., Canada, U.K., France, The Netherlands, Australia and elsewhere, receiving both popular and critical acclaim.

Wang has become the leading force of Chinese experimental theatre, known for his explorations in multimedia performance and documentary theatre. Thunderstorm 2.0 was named by Beijing News as “one of the best 10 small theatre works in China during the last 30 years.” Ibsen in One Take was noted by Literary Life Weekly as one of the “Top 10 performances of 2012 in China.” The Flowers on the Sea 2.0 was the first independent theatre production commissioned by China’s prestigious government-run Shanghai International Arts Festival. His translations include Mike Daisey’s "The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs", Woody Allen’s "Central Park West", and Eve Ensler’s "Vagina Monologues".
